Taiwan resilience shows, Pelosi’s visit could do more harm to Communist China and crack open the doors to democracy

The fossilised dragon China has resorted to western social media like Twitter (which is banned in Communist China in order to cage the Chinese) to fume as its firecrackers around Taiwan have failed to enthuse the Chinese so far. Secret killings and computer hacks show China in even poorer light – as that of a coward with no spine to confront the reality.

Citing countries like Cuba, China says hundreds of countries support China’s One-China principle – big deal given the US says the same. So, what is worrying China? A loss of face?  A permanent one that could drive emperor Xi into oblivion and usher in democracy?

Following US President Biden’s expected focus on Inflation Bill and frequent and convenient COVID infections, China was keen to show its muscle power around Taiwan with many threats of a unification by force. However, time is running out and soon Taiwan and the world will return to normal – and Xi end with a bloodied nose.

The de-escalation has started. Following China’s biggest ever military drills in the Taiwan Straits, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said China was overreacting to Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan. The US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns said on Sunday the world should hold Beijing accountable to maintain the peace.

In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying posted “eight tweets in a row on Twitter in a powerful rejection”, according to the state-run Global Times. “The US should not pretend to be surprised about the Chinese response, as we have tried every means to warn of the consequences of Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, including at the highest level,” Hua said.

“Could a visit by the No. 3 figure of the US government on a military aircraft escorted by naval vessels be described as ‘unofficial’?” This is proof the US administration has always been complicit and therefore must accept all responsibility and consequences, she added.

Hua also said in a tweet that since there are several restaurants selling dumplings in Taiwan, it is rightfully a part of China!

Self-sabotage seems to be the new Chinese foreign policy. When will the jokes end and Taiwan become a safe place?
